About This Exhibit
In this collection, “Camera Obscura” refers to the darkened chamber (or dark room) within each of us, the curious and restless “Self” that utilizes perception as its lens. It is intended to inspire the viewer - not just to appreciate the unfolding panorama of our Lives, but also, to witness how all existence seamlessly interacts in harmony, even when things appear (on the surface) as contradictory.
Each of these photographs is an impulsive composition, captured in quiet, yet instinctive,
moments of observation. They are memories to me, but impressions that I hope will transcend my own capacity for contemplation. My goal then, in selecting these pieces, is to evoke an emotional response in you (the audience) and to remind us, even for an instance, that we must learn to see beyond the obvious. We must learn to observe the contradictions of our own reflection and projection, upon the backdrop of our “experience”. And we must learn to embrace a more personal encounter with Life, by inviting her benevolent wisdom. For as much as we have evolved, intellectually, we have equally stifled our deeper inner voice, which urges us to become more than the sum of our philosophies and ideals (words, with empty breath in between).
